Our Engagements

Three forms of engagement, each shaped to a different kind of need

Our Methodology

How we approach advisory work at a difficult moment

Every engagement begins with care about the situation โ€” not with assumptions drawn from prior cases or standard industry patterns. We read the materials we are given, we ask questions, and we take time to understand the specific pressures and relationships at play before suggesting any direction.

Our three engagement types reflect three distinct points at which a business in difficulty might benefit from external advisory input: at the beginning of a difficult period, during the process of working through it, or at a specific moment when a difficult conversation with a stakeholder needs to be prepared for carefully.

"We do not have a standard answer to a difficult situation. What we have is a careful method for arriving at a considered one."
Situation Assessment Engagement

Engagement 01

Situation Assessment Engagement

A careful examination of a business currently navigating a difficult stretch, undertaken in confidence and with respect for the people involved. We sit with leadership and, where appropriate, a small set of colleagues across the business, review recent financials and operational indicators, and spend time understanding the present picture properly before suggesting any direction.

What is included

  • Initial background review of provided materials
  • Structured interviews with leadership (and selected colleagues)
  • Review of recent financial statements and operational indicators
  • Written assessment report setting out findings
  • Short set of measured possibilities for discussion
  • One debrief conversation to walk through the written assessment

Process steps

  1. 01 Initial briefing call and material collection
  2. 02 Independent review of financials and operational data
  3. 03 Structured interviews (typically over two to three days)
  4. 04 Internal analysis and written report preparation
  5. 05 Delivery of written assessment and debrief conversation

How we sit alongside: This is a contained engagement โ€” we come in, do careful work, and deliver a clear written output. You are not committing to an ongoing relationship. The assessment belongs to you to use as you see fit.
Recovery Advisory Engagement

Engagement 02

Recovery Advisory Engagement

A companion engagement for leaders working through a period of business recovery, offering a steady external voice alongside their own efforts. We meet on a regular cadence to review progress, think through the current set of questions, and offer structured input where helpful.

What is included

  • Fortnightly meetings (in person or video, by preference)
  • Written summary following each meeting
  • Working reference document that evolves across the engagement
  • Email reachability between meetings for shorter questions
  • Structured review at the end of each two-month period

Typical engagement arc

  1. 01 Orientation period โ€” understanding where things stand (Month 1)
  2. 02 Active advisory rhythm โ€” fortnightly sessions (Months 2โ€“4)
  3. 03 Review and transition โ€” assessing progress, considering next steps (Months 5โ€“6)

How we sit alongside: Think of us as a thinking partner who is consistently available but never intrusive. We follow your lead on how much we are in contact, within the agreed cadence.
Stakeholder Communication Session

Engagement 03

Stakeholder Communication Session

A confidential session for leaders preparing to hold a difficult conversation with a stakeholder โ€” a lender, a significant supplier, or a group of investors โ€” about the current state of the business. Before the session we read the relevant background and exchange a short written brief. The session itself is structured around understanding what needs to be communicated, to whom, and in what spirit.

What is included

  • Pre-session background reading and briefing exchange
  • Two-hour structured preparation session
  • Short written communication outline following the session
  • Optional debrief conversation after the stakeholder meeting

Session structure

  1. 01 Background review and brief exchange (before session)
  2. 02 Understanding the stakeholder's perspective and concerns
  3. 03 Structuring what to communicate and what not to
  4. 04 Tone, framing, and handling likely questions
  5. 05 Written outline delivered following the session
How we sit alongside: This is a focused, single-session engagement. We are not in the room with you when the conversation happens โ€” but the preparation we do together will have been thorough.
